Why have a marketing plan? I think this is one of the most important questions a beginning Internet marketer can ask himself. As a matter of fact, I think this is just as important, if not more important, for off-line marketers as well. I think the answer is what we all try to figure out every step of the way. I do not think it can ever be answered completely. It is also the big question and this question can of course be broken down into smaller more focused questions that I hope I can now help answer.

" What are the steps required for a marketing plan? There are several steps to creating a workable plan. First you have to have goals. You should keep two separate lists of these goals: one short-term goal list and one long-term list. You need to figure out two or three big long term goals and then begin to break those goals down into smaller more manageable ones. You make the bigger goals seem more realistic and doable in a sense if you break them down into pieces you know you can do. If you create multiple lists it will help you not get overwhelmed by the amount of tasks to complete in any marketing campaign.

" What are the basics required in a marketing plan? You need to understand three things before starting any marketing campaign. First, you need to have a product that you believe in. This is an important thing that people overlook a lot of the time. It is not enough to have a good product - your product needs to be something that you really care about and want to invest time in. This leads me to the second thing you need: Time. You have to have enough time to invest to make the plan worth it. If you do not think you can invest as much time as you want then you need to rethink the plan from the beginning. The third thing you need is Support. This can come in many forms. Family is a good one. People that you live with or that you are in relationships with need to understand what is going on with you, and what you are up to. Also you need the support of your peers. This can be found online in forums and the many social networking sites that are available on the Internet. Find other people who are into the same things you are - they are out there, trust me.

" What kind of research is required to implement a successful marketing plan? The first thing I want to say here is that the more research you do in the planning stage, the less work you will have to do later on in the process. Now to answer the question of what kind of research you should conduct. I think the first thing you should do is begin looking around online and see if other people have taken the same approach with their marketing campaign as you have. If you can find a marketing model to use, it will all go much smoother for you - especially in the early stages of your plan.

I think if you ask yourself these questions in the beginning you will be doing yourself a great service and it will make life seem easier in the early stages. I hope this helps you in forming a marketing plan and gives you some direction in the planning stages.
